An iPlayTV alternative for Mac and Windows

iPlayTV is a favourite on Apple TV: a one-time price, a clean guide, done. The trouble starts when you want the same thing on your laptop.

The short answer

iPlayTV itself runs on Apple TV only. The related app for iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs, iPlayTV AIO, is a subscription and was last updated in September 2022. Neither runs on Windows. TV Flow is a current, one-time-purchase player for both Mac and Windows.

Two apps with one name

iPlayTV – IPTV/M3U Player, by the developer Andre Silva, is the Apple TV app people recommend. It costs $5.99 once, takes a playlist link, a file or an Xtream login, and offers a full guide, catch-up for Xtream accounts, favourites, AirPlay and iCloud sync. Its last update, in September 2025, fixed crashes on the newest Apple TV software.

iPlayTV AIO is a different App Store app for iPhone, iPad, Vision Pro and Macs with Apple silicon. It is free to install with a subscription ($2.49 a quarter or $9.49 a year), and without it, films and series do not play. Its last App Store version is dated 29 September 2022.

Why people look for an alternative on a computer

  • The Apple TV purchase does not come to the Mac. On a Mac you need AIO, with its own subscription.
  • AIO has not been updated for four years, and App Store reviewers describe playlists being lost and repeated requests to restore the purchase.
  • Intel Macs are left out, since AIO needs Apple silicon.
  • There is nothing for Windows.

Where iPlayTV is the better choice

On an Apple TV, keep it. TV Flow has no television app, and iPlayTV’s guide and catch-up go further than TV Flow’s now-and-next line.

Where TV Flow is the better choice

  • On the Mac, Intel or Apple silicon, as a program made for the Mac and updated regularly.
  • On Windows 10 and 11, with the same design.
  • One price. $19.99 once, after a free three-day trial, with films and series included.
  • Arabic and English. A complete right-to-left interface.

The playlist is the same one: enter the M3U link or the Xtream login you use on the Apple TV, and watch on the computer as well.

Questions people ask

Is there an iPlayTV for Mac?

Not the Apple TV app. A separate app, iPlayTV AIO, runs on Macs with Apple silicon by subscription; it was last updated in 2022.

Is there an iPlayTV for Windows?

No. iPlayTV is published for Apple devices only.

Can I use the same playlist in iPlayTV and TV Flow?

Yes. Both read M3U links and Xtream Codes logins, so the same details work in each.
